Hello to all my dear blogging friends,
Since the birthday of my great grandmother is approaching I decided to honor her today and also one of her daughters. You see both of them were seamstresses, they made all of their own clothes and the rest of the family also. Back in those days I guess everyone knew how to sew. They even made clothes to order. My grandmother also did some sewing and the last picture is her sewing machine, which I still have. I remember she was always sewing, mom told me she made all of my baby clothes on this sewing machine.
This is my great aunt Anastasia, she probably made the dress she is wearing. I think she was very pretty. The lace book was given to me by my daughter Julie a few years ago, love this book.
Closeup pic of her. So sad that years ago folks didn't live as long as we do now, she died so young in her 30's.
This is my great grandmother Victoria, she went blind in her later years. She was a lovely lady, friendly and kind to everyone she met.
Here is the sewing machine, it still works but I never use it. It has the wheel on the right side which you have to turn to sew, leaving you only with your left hand to maneuver the fabric.
Hope you have enjoyed visiting with me today and seeing a couple of my old family members. By the way the little doll belonged to my God mother Rita. Enjoy the rest of this week.

Shopping for Pink Saturday
Hi Pink Friends,
This week I went shopping and found several pink items so decided to use them for my Pink Saturday post.
First of all went to GW and found this lovely glass jar, I liked the shape of it and brought it home. Filled it with some of my pink roses. The pink egg thought would save for Easter, it is so pretty could not leave it cause later I would probably be sorry, you know how that is.
If you shop at Kohl's raise your right hand, oh good so do I. Well had this $10.00 gift card, you know they send them in the mail, of course had to use it and guess what found pink pants and in my size, 10. Figured we still have some hot weather left so got them along with some socks and paid $7.59, also had a 20% discount card.
This is the label. I like to wear this brand, they always seem to fit right.
This pretty pink nighty bought at a different store, being pink could not leave it.
We never have enough pink.
Well that was my shopping. Had a nice day and came home with goodies, what more can I ask for. Thank you Beverly for Pink Saturdays where we can share with our friends our pink finds and our everyday pinks too. Enjoy a lovely weekend everyone...

IL Divo in Concert
Hello to all my sweet friends,
This week will not be participating in Pink Saturday since I have been so busy and no time to get my pinks together. Instead will post this concert that my daughter Julie and I went to.
It was in down town Los Angeles at the Nokia Theater to see IL Divo. Don't know if you have heard of them, they have been on TV many times and travel doing concerts all over the world also have several albums recorded.
The concert was amazing.
My pictures were terrible, had it not been for Julie we would have no pictures at all.
It's difficult taking pictures during a concert cause you don't want to miss anything.
These are four men, each from a different country, all with fabulous voices and were
discovered by Simon Cowell.
This is Carlos, he is from Spain and he was our favorite.
We had a fantastic time, the Nokia Theater and LA Live are amazing, it's like Las Vegas there at night. People everywhere, restaurants and so much to see. My daughter tries to take me to one or two concerts every summer. Last year we went to the Hollywood Bowl a couple of times. That certainly was fun, she took delicious food and wine, I will not soon forget this one.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and talk to all of you soon. Enjoy Pink Saturday.

Pink Gerber Daisies
Hi dear pink friends,
Pink Saturday is here again and hope all of you have been well and enjoying summer. Here it's been pretty hot, above 90 everyday.
My granddaughter Kelly was over to visit and brought me these beautiful Gerber Daisies. Well I just had to share them with all of you today. I love the color.
Gerbera is important commercially. It is the fifth most used cut flower in the world (after rose, carnation, chrysanthemum, and tulip).
I had them in the dining room but now they are here in our bedroom.
Ornamental plants from the sunflower family (Asteraceae). It was named in honour of the German botanist and naturalist Traugott Gerber.
I don't have Gerber Daisies in my garden but looking forward to having them next summer. Thank you Beverly for hosting our Pink Saturday that we all love so much. Link on my side bar so you can see many other beautiful pinks.
Remember: In the garden we don't count the hours! How true, I forget everything when I am in my garden.
I know some of you enjoy seeing pictures my husband Rick takes from his wheel chair, so if you missed the last post it;s the one right below this one. Thanks for looking.

From Rick's Wheel Chair
Hello dear friends,
Well Rick and his camera were at it again. We went to the historic landmark San Gabriel Mission and took a walking tour, of course he was in his wheel chair. This mission was founded in 1771 and was designed by Father Antonio Cruzado of Spain. Rick was able to take a few pictures and that made him very happy, so here they are hope you enjoy them.
Here we have Jesus at the mission cemetery.
A sweet angel not far from Jesus.
This is inside the old church.
Our Mother Mary holding her Son. This is so beautiful.
Outside on the grounds we came across this lovely Virgin of Guadalupe.
This was the 4th mission built of 21 that we have here in California.
Father Serra the founder of the missions.
A small angel, these two were small and low on the ground, easy for him to photograph.
Jesus, no words needed.
Gorgeous angel, this one was my favorite.
The famous Mission Bells. They were very important and rang everyday to call the residents to work and to eat.
Oh what a wonderful day we had, we forgot the sunscreen and he burned his arms, but he was alright, actually he didn't even mind it because he had a great day.
He hopes you enjoyed this special day at the San Gabriel Mission. The grounds are so beautiful and so many grape vines, oh my goodness, they are everywhere.
Hope this week is a blessed one for all of you.

Vintage Pink Rose Plates
Hello to all my sweet pink friends, Did we all survive the parties for Beverly? Did we eat enough cake or what, wow I was really stuffed, bet you all were also.
Went to GW this week and found these darling small vintage cake plates, speaking of cake. It's a set of six plates. They have a lovely pink rose then some morning glories another small pink rose on the opposite side.
Made in U.S.A. by Knowles China Co.
Aren't they sweet? All have gilding trim.
I was so happy and excited when I found them, that's all I bought that day.
Will have to get a cake or make one to enjoy my new plates. Think will wait a week or so. Hope all of you have been enjoying a lovely week, here it's been in the 80's quite pleasant but know that other parts of the country have been very hot. Hope you visit all the other pink posts, just click on the button to your right for Pink Saturday.
Blessings to all...
