My Swans

Hello to all my blogging friends...I am sharing with you today some of my swans that I have collected. I just love swans they are so graceful and just seem to glide in the water. I have collected them for a while now and most of them have come from thrift shops, since I like the older ones. Our home is old and we still have one of the original bathrooms, have not remodeled it and probably never will, we like the old tile in pink and black so, therefore, it seemed like the perfect home for our swans. Have you ever seen Swan Lake? It was composed in Russia in 1875-76. It's the story of a Princess named Odette who was turned into a swan by a sorcerer. I wish I could see it sometime. This is my favorite swan, it is musical and came from GW.
Here is a cute one that I also like.
Theses two sweeties I bought in separate shops, the prices are amazing.
This one was only $2.00
The colors on this one are soft pink and soft gray, he just caught my eye at the Rose Bowl for only $5.00
This swan looks like it used to be a lamp, it has the openings for the cord, but I bought it at a thrift shop for $3.00
My son made this one, he used to own a ceramic business and they sold theses to florist and other businesses.
I've never seen a green swan have you? But it was a swan I just had to bring home. The other swan is porcelain.
The little swans are so sweet, can't pass them up when I find them.
Mama swan and her baby, from source.
Swans usually mate for life, just like crows, isn't that beautiful? The mama swan lays three to eight eggs at a time. "The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is to love and be loved in return"

  1. Hi Lu. Oh,what charming photos for us today of those beautiful swans. I love them, and it is quite amazing how they mate for life like that. When you mentioned your pink and black bathroom, it reminded me of my parents' home when I was a little girl growing up, for they had a pink and black bathroom as well! I remember it was very trendy at the time!! Happy memories.

  7. Dearest Lu,
Wow, how lovely and adorable swan collections you have♡♡♡
Your pictures kind of made me in tears. We have a big park with lake in my city and had more than four hundred
swans. But they had to be destroyed becouse of the bird flu... I personally had lovely memories visiting them from time to time since kid.
Haha, so sorry I told you the sad story.
I Hope you are having a wonderful new week.
    Love you always, xoxo Miyako*

  12. Good Morning Lu,
You are the first person I know that collects swans, and I have to ask "why is that?" I think more might get into the collection once they see yours, what loveliness.
You have some beautiful and graceful birds and I can certainly see why you would enjoy seeing them on a daily basis.
Thank you for sharing such a pretty passion with us.
Happy Easter to you and yours,
    Char

    1. Char, I've always admired swans. When I was a little girl my mom would buy decals of swans and attach them to the bathroom walls. I remember always admiring them and thought they were so graceful. You see ducks all the time but not swans, so just decided to collect them. Just got a new one which I will use with Easter eggs on the dinner table. Happy Easter...Lu

  18. Hi Lu,
Thank you for visiting my blog and you kind words and also for being my follower. Your swan collection is adorable. I grew up listening to the Tchaikovsky's music, my mother loved his work and I do too. Very close where I live, there is a beautiful town Stratford, ON and I've seen there a few black swans, but lots of Mute swans and Tundra Swans, all of them are gorgeous.
That's good to know that your son rescued those poor kittens and also to know that you love all Lord's creatures. I'm your follower too. I wish you a very happy Easter and blessings,
    Laura :0)
