My First Tea Set

I joined Martha's Tea Cup Tuesday again this week...
I learned all about tea from my sweet mother, who of course is no long with me. She would have tea every afternoon, I was just a little girl and had my own little tea set, you know the kind I mean that all us little girls have had. She would serve me my little cup which we had with cookies or something my dad had baked, he enjoyed baking and everything he made was delicious.
As I grew up the afternoon tea tradition continued, of course when I was at work we had our tea on weekends and after dinner, we would sit and talk with our cups of tea.
One day we both were out shopping and we saw this tea set, she immediately said, I am buying this for you, I wasn't even married yet this was back in the early 50's, and yes she did purchase it and I treasure it so, it's service for six. Love my very first tea set, thank you mom and I love you always and forever and thanks dad for baking all the goodies.
Had to share these pretty little spoons that I bought at a garage sale, all for $2.00

One of my daughters also enjoys having tea and has taken me and my granddaughter to tea at the Rose Garden Tea Room at the Huntington Gardens in Pasadena several times. It's a beautiful place with many gorgeous gardens and a lovely tea room. Of course the menu is very special, so yummy.

"I cannot sit and chat with you, the way I'd like to do...So brew yourself a cup of tea, I'll think of you, you think of me"
Enjoy the evening and the coming weekend my tea loving friends...
Lu

I remember I used to have my favorite Yunomi when little. Now,I love having Japanese tea with tea cups.

  7. Your tea set is just beautiful! That is so nice that you had tea time with your mom and have such special memories of that. Me and my daughters have been taking time out each day to have a cup of tea. It is very soothing after a hectic day. I loved your post - I never get tired of seeing "tea posts". Have a lovely week.

  9. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful tea story! Your mother and father sound like they were very good loving parents. The tea set your mum bought for you is really sweet! I love the gold over cream, and the teapot is a fabulous shape too. But I know it's real value is the memories and the love.

  14. You have a lovely tea set and the condition it's in is amazing. If it were mine it would be chipped and missing handles and down to just a few pieces by now. I have a very simple set not worth taking photos of but I enjoy my tea just the same. I wanted to thank you for coming to my site and for following me on my journey. I'll be visiting with you here as well. Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs

  22. Hi, thanks for visiting me this week. I am delighted to return the visit and discover your lovely blog. LOVE those spoons!! They're gorgeous...and what an amazing price!! You struck gold (or shall I say silver) with that deal!!

Your tea things are lovely too. My china pattern is desert rose (off white with pink roses and green leaves). Your cookie plate reminded me of that.

Finally, just had to say, I got here by way of your profile, and reading your "about me", I just had to say that I LOVE the movie Picnic. Of course, I am totally in love with William Holden. If I could have a part in any classic movie, it would be Kim Novak's part in that one...to dance with the gorgeous Holden as she did...ah, be still my heart.

Besides my Fill My Cup with Beauty blog, which you visited, I also have a classic movie blog, where I review the movies I watch. You might enjoy popping by. Get there via my profile or from the link (Cary Grant photo) on my Fill My Cup with Beauty blog.

    Blessings,
    Patti
