Our Old House

Hello dear friends, here we are in our new year of 2012 and so far here in CA the weather has been perfect. Our days are in the 80's, I even have roses blooming before I can even trim them down. Since the weather has been so wonderful I have been outside gardening and the thought came to me as to who build our home. It has so many features that we just love, so the builder must of thought like we do. We live in an old Spanish style home, it was built in 1930 and we bought it from the original owner. We love our home and have made many memories here with our family. Here are only a few photos of things I like here.....Top photo, anyone for tea in my patio? This second one is a cute little squirrel that came to pay us a visit and just look at my cat on the next photo, how he is just watching every move she makes.

Here is a door in our patio which faces the front of the house. I like this area very much, it's great for shade plants.

This little window is one of several cute little windows on this house.

Oh how I like this side door.

Here is another small window. We even have a couple of round windows, which I didn't photograph.

Lemon tree in back yard and another way to get upstairs.

That's it for now, thanks so much for stopping by to visit this old house of mine.

  2. Hi Lu. Your house is certainly in the Spanish style, and it looks beautiful. How I envy you your wonderful weather at this time of the year! In England, we have dark days now, and altogether damp and dreary. I live in hope that we may get some bright days to lift the spirits.

  3. What a beautiful house Lu! Compared to yours, I live in a cupboard (closet)! It is very tiny and over packed with 'things' but I still love it! Hugs

  11. Hello Lu,

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with all of us!
It reminded me so much of Italy and bits of Spain. Oh, how I miss Italy!
It was as if I traveled a little.
Love the balcony upstairs. With look great covered with Geraniums in terracotta pots! (that is what I had seen a lot in Italy)
Thank you again for this trip.
    Many Hugs

  12. Dearest Lu,
Wow, how GORGEOUS your Spanish style House is♡♡♡ I enlarged the pictures and felt the atmosphere. Built in 1930, Japanese wooden house need much more maintaining to do I think.
Haha, you made me wish to get invited and relax for a while.

PS. I learned about your husband condition. God bless for both of you, my friend.

Love and Lots of Hugs to you, xoxo Miyako*

  13. Lu,
I've always loved Spanish style homes. This one looks like it's build so strong. The windows are so unique. It makes you appreciate the craftsman who built such a beauty. Thank you for sharing these wonderful home pictures. I love to see the outside of homes and front porches.

  16. Lovely photos...lovely home. I would love to live in a 30's or 40's home one day. I think old homes have a character that is quite lacking in more modern homes.

Before moving to the Northwest earlier in the 2000's, we lived in Florida. I miss living in a more temperate climate, where we had beautiful flowers growing in January!

I'm hoping to watch a Holden flick this week..."The Moon Is Blue." It's not a favorite film, but it's cute...and he is gorgeous. I'll be reviewing it as soon as I do a re-watch.

    Wishing you a wonderful day.

    Love,
    Patti

  17. Hello, Lu
Well, we made it to the Rose Bowl Flea Market on Sunday, Jan. 8th. We got there at 8 A.M. which costs $10 at that time, but we figured the parking was free so that helped.
I found several vintage goodies in the antiques and collectibles area. Some aqua colored vintage bottles at one booth, and they also had purple bottles aged by the sun, and vintage brown bottles. I found some chandelier crystals to replace some on a chandelier I have. And I found vintage trims and laces. And an hour glass which is actually a 45 minute timer in brass and glass...which is pretty nice...I wanted it just for the vintage look. It was the most expensive thing I bought at $15 (as the man came down $5 on it!) And I found some new children's books from $1 to $4 in the arts and crafts area, which was fun!
We were there four hours walking our feet off!
Going at 8 o'clock did have its advantages as the crowd wasn't half of what it was at 9 A.M. So the extra $2 for admission was worth it. I hope to go again. My husband is always three isles ahead of me as I take my time looking for hidden goodies. And I was able to bargain with much of what I bought, most people would take a dollar off what they were selling. Oh, and I got a small box 6" X 6" full of clock repairing items at a reasonable price too. It was a fun time!
    Have a lovely week~

  18. Lu your house is so awesome! I would love a house like that. Being the succulent freak and mexican art person that I am. Your patio looks so inviting! Our weather here in Sacto has been unseasonably good also. But we could use some rain. It does get to 32F quite often at night though. Thanks for letting us see your home!
