Houses of a Bygone Era

These pictures were taken by my invalid husband. As you probably have seen before in another post, pictures of City Clocks, he likes me to drive him around so he can take pictures of things that are of interest to him. Here are a few pictures of frame homes, taken from the car, which also interest him. He wonders who lived there years ago and in his own words, I am ever on the search for homes from a bygone era. Here are a few examples that caught my eye.
"Home is where the heart can bloom"
These are small houses mail boxes which he admired so photographed them.
Once upon a long ago when homes were meant to be more than just houses, craftsmen created charming residences that reflected the era and personality of the owners
"Home is where your story begins"
In viewing yesterday's homes one can only wonder about the people who once inhabited these dwellings
Of course we had to end this with our own home, which is also old, build in 1930. We bought it from the original family that built it.
Hope you have enjoyed these old homes, as soon as the weather is better we will be off again taking pictures of what ever catches his eye. Since he is unable to walk our car is the next best thing. We do stop for lunch sometimes or I take a picnic lunch so it makes for a nice outing for both of us. Have a wonderful spring week. "In our home happiness, In our hearts love"

  1. Thank you for sharing your husband's hobby, it must be frustrating for him not to get around and it puts alot of things in my life into perspective. He is lucky he has a loving wife to drive him around and I'm sure he appreciate it.

  4. I love houses like these. They look so welcoming and comfy. New houses seem cold in comparison. It is lovely your husband enjoys going for drives. You can see so much beauty from a car window.

Your home is wonderful. I've always found Spanish style houses attractive. I remember your beautiful patio from an earlier post. God bless.

  9. Hello Lu!
First I would like to thank you for giving back my visit, I was very happy!
Yeah, but your post inspired me, because I also like all that is beautiful and I am in love with these styles of house, which as I said earlier, you do not see here.
You said your husband is invalid, is not it? But God is with him and why he likes what is beautiful too. He may be invalid, but the feelings will never be invalid. Tell him I congratulate you for the good taste and that God loves you so, the way he is.
May God forever bless you and your family!
    Hugs ... Luciana

I love your post. Older houses have so much character and yours looks so beautiful! I love that Spanish style.
I'm glad your husband can enjoy his photography with you. Best wishes to him.
I used to love looking around charity or goodwill shops but I can't walk now. I can drive from here to there, if you know what I mean, but then I can't walk and have a browse like I used to. I miss that, so I stay home and make pretty pictures! LOL!
