Pink Saturday

Hello Pink Friends, I am so late this week in posting my pinks, but as some of you know I have been sick all week with a nasty cold. Feeling so much better now but not yet perfect. Here are a couple of pinks that I completed while I was sick. Perhaps they aren't perfect but I had to do something, difficult to sit doing nothing even though not feeling well. However, I did quite a bit of sleeping and had lots of chicken soup. Her face is hand embroidered.

Let me tell you, it's no fun being sick, especially taking care of my invalid husband. Thank God for my son who did so much for us. We are lucky he works from home and lives upstairs from us. Stay healthy everyone...

Pink Saturday

Hello Dear Friends, I have been under the weather this week, therefore, have not posted. It's just a cold but it's a nuisance having it. My son made chicken soup for me today and washed many dishes and pot/pans, what a blessing. Thank you my dear Jerry. A rose pillow which I bought in a cute little shop that still had handmade items. Sad to say it's gone now. I really like this pillow in pink.

This pretty mirror is in our bedroom and you can see my dress form in the distance.

You have probably seen these book boxes. I decorated this one in a Paris motif in pink and added gold highlights.

Don't you just love pink and black together? I certainly do, therefore, did this box in those colors. I sold two similar to this one at a boutique.

Ok, dear ones, guess that's it for today, hope I am feeling much better tomorrow. Take care everyone and don't get sick.

Romance--of-Roses

Hello and Welcome to my blog dear friends...Today we are sharing vintage or thrift store finds on our blogs for Etsy Cottage Style. So here we go. Bought this at one of my favorite thrift shops, of course it didn't look like this. I painted it pink, made of metal and it sits in our patio. Think I paid $1.00 for it.

This very pretty box also found at a different thrift shop and I gave it a little different look so it would fit here with my other things.

I love finding pretty plates, these I found quite some time ago but still love them. Recently found a couple of heart plates, which will share on another time.

Hope all of you are enjoying these first few days of our new year 2013 and looking forward to a beautiful year, I sure am.

My Birthday 1-13-13

Hello to all my dear friends here in blogland. Yes, my birthday is coming up and I am so excited because of the numbers. My lucky number has always been 13 and this year I get a double whammy. Ok, met my dear hubby Rick on the 13 and we took out our marriage license also on a 13 but not only that, both were on a Friday the 13th. Don't know if you saw Sheri's portrait on her blog Red Rose Alley (don't know how to make a link) well it's just so beautiful and so it reminded me that when Rick was in the service in Japan, of course he was my boyfriend then, I had send him a small photo of myself and he had it hand painted on silk. Yes saved it all these years and the colors have not changed, told Sheri that I would make a post with it, so here it is. First is the painting on silk then the photo of myself that they took it from. I was all of 16 years old. I think they did an amazing job, just a tad difference but all in all it's good. So since it's my birthday thought would share this with all of you. Thank you everyone for being such great friends to me, Kerri, Celestina, Sheri, Sandy, Dolores, Shirley, Marylou and so many others here in the states and all my friends in Greece, Italy, Brazil and more. Love all of you.

Hope for All

This poem was send to me from our cousin in Oregon, I just had to post it. **** This poem gives a person hope for tomorrow. Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38 when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate. Their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air. They could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there. They were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say. They remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day. "Where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse. "This is heaven." declared a small boy. "We're spending Christmas at God's house." When what to their wondering eyes did appear, but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near. He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same. Then He opened His arms and He called them by name. And in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring, those children all flew into the arms of their King. And as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace, one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face. And as if He could read all the questions she had He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad." Then He looked down on earth, the world far below He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe. Then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand, "Let My power and presence re-enter this land!" "May this country be delivered from the hands of fools" "I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!" Then He and the children stood up without a sound. "Come now my children, let me show you around." Excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran. All displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can. Sad Pink Saturday

Hello Everyone, Yesterday we had a horrible thing happen in Connecticut where a shooting happened in an elementary school. 20 innocent children were killed along with 6 adults. We are all very saddened by this and I only chose to post my nativity scene of little children. These sweet little children are little angels in heaven now. Hope 2013 is a much better year and the parents and family of all these little children heal from this horrific experience. Please visit other pretty pinks via my link on the side bar.

Pinks for Pink Saturday

Hello Dear Friends, Busy time of the year for all of us. I have been doing boutiques and have not had much time to post here on Pink Saturday, which I love so much. Thank you Beverly for all you do and for having us visit each other here on Saturdays. Click on my side bar to see many pretty pinks. Today I wanted to share just a few of my pinks. This first one is a pink candle with faux roses, sorry no real roses right now.

I might of shown this pink angel before but she wanted to be included, so here she is again. She is a find at a thrift shop.

These bottles I decorated and the candle is from Urban Barn in Escondito here in CA. have any of you been there? That is a beautiful store, my daughter and I enjoy going once in a while, it's a little far for us or we would go more often.

Hope all of you are enjoying this beautiful season as we await the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Love One Another

Hello Friends, Here we are in the middle of the week and here in CA we are expecting rain and more rain or so they said, time will tell. I received some forwards from a friend in Oregon and had to share this one photo with all of you. I just thought this was so adorable, an expression of love. It tells us to love one another and not to forget our troops and the folks back east that have had so many problems and some are still without power.

Veteran's Day

Happy Veteran's Day, Since today is Veterans Day, my husband was working and playing around on his computer and came up with this picture. I thought it was wonderful and decided to make a post with it. Hope you enjoy. Yes, this is my husband taken in boot camp, San Diego, CA... many years ago.

Redwood State Park

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I would like to share with you Redwood State Park up in Monterey, CA. My granddaughter was given a promotion at her job and had to move up there. She joined a hiking group and here are some of the pictures I received. The hike was in Boulder Creek which is about 1 1/2 hours from Monterey.

They hiked for 12 miles which took 5 hours. Isn't this beautiful?

They had very nice paths.

Welcome Autumn & Pink

Happy Pink Saturday to all...Hope all of you are well and enjoying the lovely weather we are having, well here in CA anyway. Our prayers are with all the folks in New York, New Jersey and surrounding places. My daughters mother-n-law was very close but she is alright. Just a few streets down they were not so lucky. At Pinterest found this Autumn Door that I thought would be nice for today's post. It's autumn yet the leaves look pink.

Went to one of my little thrift shops this week and found this darling pink angel. She is not only sweet but lights up as well. She was only $3.00

Here she is with her little lights on, isn't she adorable? I just love her and she looks so very pretty at night.

Also bought this little arrangement of pink roses for $2.00 in a white stand.

I said I wasn't going to paint the dining room cabinet till spring, however, when I was done with the room this cabinet looks simply terrible, so spend today painting it. I must say it looks much better now, tomorrow will arrange it.
